Onsale Inc claims more than six million bids have now been made through its online auction web site. The six-millionth bid was placed by Mark Silberstein, a buyer for Interactive Computers who says Onsale has become an important supplier for his business. The company’s success testifies to the foresight of ex-Lotus Development Corp CTO Gerry Kaplan, or at least to his luck this time around – his Go Corp startup was not so profitable. In other net auction news, Creative Computers Inc filed for an initial public offering to spin off its Ubid Inc subsidiary. Creative plans to keep an 82% stake in Ubid, which was formed last September to auction off close-out and refurbished products.
