The International Computer Security Association has spread its wings and flown east to establish an operation in Japan. The Carlisle, Pennsylvania organization, formerly known as the National Computer Security Association, changed its name at the beginning of the month, but outlined plans to shift its focus from just the US to a more international presence last year. ICSA is an independent organization that strives to improve security and confidence in global computing through awareness and certification of products and systems. The organization has certified anti-virus systems on around 90% of the world’s business computers and 80% of all commercial web sites. But at the moment only 10% of the organization’s members are based in Europe, Asia and Canada. The operation hopes its new Tokyo office will boost that number and its international recognition.
