Racal Telecom, the telco arm of Racal Electronics Plc, said yesterday it is building a 25km optic fiber ring around London’s Dockland’s internet hub to relieve some of the bottlenecking its customers have been experiencing. The 144-fiber ring is designed to link major internet hubs at Telehouse, Telehouse 2, Telecity and London Switch, so Racal can provide its customers with the ability to interconnect without having to collocate their equipment in the same hub. The ring is due to be finished later this month, and will be connected to Racal’s 40Gbps network between London and its Cornwall landing stations.
