Attachmate Corp and IBM Corp yesterday proposed an industry- standard way of accessing corporate host data over the internet. The companies claim the Open Host Interface Objects (OHIO) standard is a vendor-neutral set of interfaces allowing web-to- host applications access to corporate-based host systems. OHIO is a set of object classes that enable e-business applications to access either mainframe or AS/400 data. It will enable developers, who have previously been reluctant to commit to a single, proprietary solution, to create e-business applications with the confidence that they will be compatible with any implementation. OHIO will be submitted for review at this week’s meeting of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
