British IT services company Logica Plc and US software provider Calico Technology Inc have formed an alliance to market and implement the latter’s e-commerce products internationally. San Jose, California-based Calico said the deal would broaden the business base for its eSales Suite in Europe and beyond, adding that the package will play a key role in Logica’s offerings in the e-commerce space. According to Calico’s European marketing manager, Gordon Hughes, the package is ‘the missing link’ in Logica’s e-commerce product line.
Logica will market, sell and integrate Calico’s interactive selling applications, with target markets initially being finance, telcos, utilities, MDT (manufacturing, distribution and transport) and government in the UK, Germany, France and other leading markets in Europe. Calico itself, meanwhile, will continue to market them through its UK, Swedish and newly-opened German offices.
The Calico eSales Suite is a sales force automation tool, enabling direct sales forces, telesales distributors and end users to analyze requirements, access marketing data, build systems, develop quotations, generate proposals and place orders. This can be done via the internet and intranets from PCs or laptops.
