Schematic Labs has developed Soundtracking, a music application, which enables users to share song clips along with their photos and views.
The app is like a virtual musical postcard and resembles an "idea of a story through song," said Schematic Labs CEO Steve Jang, who addressed the media.
The CEO of Schematic Labs added, "I was thinking wouldn’t it be great to be able to share easily what music you were listening to, or what was playing around you, while you were sitting on the train, taking a walk along a canal or in a great music cafe."
The application can also autodetect songs played in a room, which can be posted on various social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
One can find all posts pertaining to a certain location by clicking on a map icon associated with a Soundtraking post and accessing them from that location.
The app currently has 1.5m users across the United States, Canada, Western Europe and Japan and people in various countries use it in different ways.
