iVillage has announces partnerships with two well-known women’s health organizations.
iVillage, Inc, which operates the iVillage Network (including iVillage.com) has recently announced partnership agreements with the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) and the National Women’s Health Resource Center (NWHRC), two non-profit organizations promoting education and awareness about different aspects of women’s health.
The agreement with the SWHR will result in an area on the iVillageHealth.com site dedicated to information on the latest research and politics surrounding women’s health issues. The agreement with the NWHRC will be more focused on providing increased and highly credible information on a variety of women’s health topics. These topics will include diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of various women’s conditions.
The news marks an important step in the increasing meshing together of women’s health and the Internet, as all three of companies have been at the forefront of providing health information to women. The Internet is increasingly providing the platform by which women are able to seek and obtain information about women’s related issues – most notably health issues for themselves and their families. A marked trend is being established as more and more women are using the Internet, and companies are capitalizing on that fact to provide health information to women.
As a select few internet sites that are heavily visited by women become stronger and stronger in terms of content and what they have to offer, such as iVillageHealth.com and WebMD.com, there is a large opportunity for the pharmaceutical industry to get involved and benefit. It would be wise for companies marketing women’s health products to seek out marketing opportunities and sponsorship agreements with these sites. As women will increasingly rely on these sites for more and more of their health information, the exposure these companies could get will be strongly beneficial for them.
