Nokia will supply the D50e DSLAM (Digital Subscriber LineAccess Multiplexer) and related services, having already delivered broadband DSL equipment on time to GuangDong Telecom during the initial Phase of the network rollout. Deliveries have already begun. The agreement is an extension to the initial agreement for the Nokia Broadband Access solution finalised in January 2001.
The extension will bring further fast Internet access services to GuangDong, considered one of the most open and fast developing areas. GuangDong is located in southern China and includes Shenzhen, which is one of the earliest established special open economic zones in the country.
