Some of the i-mode service providers will initially be allowing free access to encourage the Dutch to use and get accustomed to the system and it is estimated that half the services will be provided free of charge. However, once the introductory period is over the service will cost anything up to $1.74 per month.
At launch, it is expected customers will have access to more than 65 approved sites. KPN has partnered up with over 50 companies worldwide to provide its users with varied content. Additional to these, customers will also have access to open sites. Although at present open sites are limited in number, they are expected to boom in coming months.
