The company has invited a number of top executives from leading telecommunications organizations to its company headquarters for a private conference, where it displayed a number of its brand new telecoms products.

Microsoft’s new products are expected to include voice-supported applications, productivity tools for carriers, back office support systems, smartphones and other wireless devices. Microsoft is constructing its range of telecommunications products by combining its BizTalk applications servers with the customer relationship management software it purchased from Great Plains.

The new products represent a change in Microsoft’s business strategy from investment in direct telecommunications and cable networks, to investments in telecommunications applications and platform development.

Analysts predict that the new products could turn Microsoft into one of the leading companies involved in network systems development.
