China Mobile says this will allow users to access networks without having to wait around for lengthy transfers. The company hopes the service will encourage users to spend more on data services such as text messaging and picture services, and therefore increase company’s ARPU.
The new moves will increase the competition between China Mobile and archrival China Unicom, which is currently upgrading its networks to the rival CDMA2000 technology.
