On a year-on-year basis, operating revenue for the quarter increased 1.2% to $1.24 billion. EBITDA decreased slightly by 1.9% to $846 million while profit after exceptional items and tax was lower by 4.8% at $601 million.
Mobile communications services contributed $220 million to Group turnover (18%), a slight increase of 0.5% year-on-year. SingTel Mobile s subscriber base as at June 2001 was 1.64 million, an increase of 42% from a year ago. A greater proportion of pre-paid subscribers over the year (from 33 to 39%) resulted in average revenue per user slipping from $67 to $51 per month.
