The company’s CFO Bill Klein said that deals had been affected as customers required additional approval to sign off on software purchases, making it difficult to close deals.
Chief executive Alfred Chuang told analysts that business was healthy, claiming that the company had secured 13 deals in the quarter worth over $1 million, which included an enterprise-wide deal with Dell Computer. Chuang predicted that second quarter revenue would be flat and revised the company’s annual estimates.
He also revealed details of the company’s second version of Weblogic Workshop, due by the end of the year. WebLogic Workshop, the company’s XML web services development environmental to be launched in July, will support second and third generation deals with Research in Motion Ltd and Palm, Inc. Chuang said that the second release would extend web services outside of the enterprise.
