The new products introduced at the CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association) Wireless 2001 trade show and exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada include the MESA(TM) Flex Wireless Cabinet, the Wireless Data Protection Panel, and the new, higher-density design Vortex(TM) Power Conversion Unit (PCU).
Marconi provides turnkey solutions that allow our customers to offer advanced wireless communications services, said Pat Welker, executive vice president, Network Components for Marconi. These new products offer our customers a resilient, dependable foundation for building networks that provide enhanced or next generation services.
The MESA Flex Wireless Cabinet is the next generation of wireless OSP enclosures. The cabinet is assembled as a series of modular bays that can be added and removed as a network changes and grows. This deployment flexibility allows the customer to customize their enclosure to suit their individual network requirements. They can also disassemble and reassemble the main components of the cabinet, such as the main chamber and the battery chamber, to simplify rooftop installations.
The Wireless Data Protection Panel is a transient voltage protector that safeguards sensitive electronics from voltage spikes and lightning. The UL listed Protection Panel protects 10 Base-T Ethernet data lines (10 Mbps) and it acts as a primary protector for DC power. It also protects the switches/routers from lightning or transients in Ethernet data lines.
Finally, the Vortex PCU is the latest enhancement to the Vortex Power Series product line. This innovative power solution boasts a substantial increase in power density, offering 30% more power with no increase in PCU size or system footprint. The Vortex Power Series is well suited for wireless DC applications where higher current capacities are required and power system size is important. With its modular design, compact footprint, plug-and-play versatility, and single point adjustment, the enhanced Vortex Power Series is ideal for MTSO/switch and remote site/base station applications.
These new products were developed in Marconi’s state-of-the-art Network Components facilities that manufacture, power, and assemble electronic enclosures and DC power systems for wireless, DSL, CATV, Power, DLC and Fiber applications.
A hallmark of the Marconi solutions offering is the resources and capabilities to provide turnkey configurations that combine the company’s various product offerings with third party sourced equipment into integrated solutions. Marconi’s Network Component testing facilities ensure that these configurations can withstand the most severe environmental conditions through rigorous evaluation processes.
