Privately owned SCH is in a two-horse race with UK rival Computacenter Plc to become the largest PC value-added reseller in Europe. Birmingham-based SCH said that this latest acquisition also makes it the second largest reseller in Spain, creating a company with local sales of 120m euros ($130m) and about 300 employees. SCH did not disclose the value of the acquisition.
SCH said it is now on course for annual sales in excess of 3bn euros ($3.3bn) with 5,000 employees. Hatfield, UK-based Computacenter, which has recently acquired the Austrian, German and UK operations of GECITS, expects 2002 sales to be around 4bn euros ($4.3bn) and has 10,000 employees.
