Adjoined, a medium-sized consulting firm for the manufacturing and financial services sectors, said the Plaut operation is profitable. The target business provides IT infrastructure management and applications management services and has data centers in Phoenix and Boston.

Salzburg, Austria-based Plaut expanded globally in the 1990s as it rode growing demand for new SAP implementation projects, but cut back over the last two years as the market slowed. Plaut sold its Brazilian operation to UK-based HR outsourcing provider Emeritis in February, and disposed of its Romanian SAP practice to S&T Systems Integration and Technology Distribution AG in May 2002.

Plaut fell deeper into the red during 2002 following write-offs in its various international operations. It made a loss before tax of 25.6m euros ($27m) compared to a loss before interest and tax of 2.1m euros ($2.22m) in 2001, on revenue that fell 23% to 215.8m euros ($228m). Plaut said the sale of the US outsourcing unit will help it to sharpen its focus on the consumer product goods, manufacturing and services sectors.
