Kuwait-based MTC-Vodafone said its GSM service would begin operations on December 31, 2003. It will be in competition with incumbent, Batelco.
Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) said the awarding of the license was significant, not only in terms of the Kingdom’s telecommunications sector, but also in the wider context of the liberalization and thus stimulus of the whole economy of the Kingdom.
The TRA said it now invites operations and investors to consider the further business opportunities in Bahrain.
