Azteca paid $8 million for the nationwide rights and has indicated it wishes to invest $29 million in its first year of operations.

It expects to launch its service in six months time, limited to six provinces, and hopes to provide national coverage within three to five years. It is the initial operator in Nicaragua to hold a national licence, with the two posessors, BellSouth and Teleglobo, restricted to the west and east coasts. Radiomovil is thinking of launching a legal battle against the result of the auction.
