After on-going talks for the last six months, the companies have dismissed five lawsuits, three against Akamai, two against Cable & Wireless (C&W), and agreed not to sue each other for five years

The deal does not include a settlement of an infringement suit that went Akamai’s way in late 2001. That case is in the damages phase, and C&W will have to pay.

The suits date back to 2000, before Digital Island Inc had been bought by C&W, and are concerned with technology used in the delivery and addressing of web content distributed over a content delivery network, the likes of which both companies offer.
