The figures highlight DoCoMo’s troubled times. DoCoMo is flailing in the 3G department in comparison with its rivals. KDDI’s CDMA 2000 network has proved popular, having attracted nearly 700,000 subscribers to the service so far.

Although DoCoMo has boosted subscriber figures with innovative ideas such as the camera phone and i-mode platform, the company has failed to follow through with a sufficiently varied handset range, which has prompted users to opt for the other networks.
