Company executive have projected a second quarter loss of a few cents more than the first $0.09 a share.
According to Reuters, president and COO Robert Growney said Motorola would evaluate selling some of its businesses based on growth potential. The number two mobile phone maker and number six chip maker’s units include personal communications, broadband communications, global telecom solutions, integrated electronic systems (IESS), and commercial, government, and industrial systems. Growney said he would not sell any semiconductor operations.
Analysts believe that the auto-electronics IESS division would be first to be spun off, bringing in between $5 billion and $6 billion.
