The deal is designed to broaden the appeal of Satlynx because Alcatel will provide the operation with its digital video broadcasting – return channel by satellite (DVB-RCS) platform, which will reduce the cost of using the operation’s services.
Satlynx is run by SES Global and Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. The two companies hope to benefit from Alcatel’s expertise in the broadband market so they can promote DSL in the Sky as an alternative to landline systems.
