The new software application will provide Verizon’s users with the opportunity to locate and access an increased number of mobile integrated Web pages.

Since we launched Mobile Web last year, we have focused on delivering to our customers a growing list of content and applications, a user friendly interface, and the tools to create a truly personal wireless Internet experience, said Gary Schulman, president of Verizon Wireless’ Wireless Data and Internet Division.

The new software is especially expected to ease the ability of the consumer to use interactive Web content e.g. games or betting. An estimated 36% or $11 billion of predicted income in the next five years will come from entertainment, by far the biggest earner.

About $6 billion of these entertainment revenues will come from playing internet games on mobile phones. The Pinpoint sofware will help users find and implement these features onto their mobile phones.

Mobile operators can profit by taking a cut out of transactions carried out over their phones, though some of them may link up with, or take over, content providers in order to ensure they have a bigger cut of the profits.
