The product development company, today announced it has received an order for $2.1 million from FiatAvio SpA for Windchill software and services. The software was shipped during PTC’s second fiscal quarter (ended March 31, 2001).
FiatAvio — the aerospace company of Fiat Group, headquartered in Turin, Italy — is a leading subsystem supplier in the aerospace and defense supply chain. FiatAvio selected Windchill, PTC’s collaboration software solution as a foundation for the company’s strategic e-Business, engineering and manufacturing initiatives. Fiat GSA, the Fiat Group’s application services company, plans to implement the software during the next four years in tandem with its strategic initiatives.
Windchill in FiatAvio will provide data management capabilities as well as support for collaborative processes. Windchill’s Net-native approach will allow a great improvement in managing design data and legacy ERP across company’s sites, and will also support the Collaboration with suppliers and customers external to the enterprise. PTC’s Windchill products will support the product development process reengineering initiatives, resulting in better quality products, cost reduction, fewer design changes across the process and time-to-market reduction.
FiatAvio is a great candidate for Windchill, because of the complexities involved in managing its long-lived products from conception through obsolescence,” said Trenton Brown, executive vice president, International Sales. “We were able to offer FiatAvio all of the key functionalities they were looking for, such as a Net-native, federated approach, life-cycle management, and inter- and intra-company process management and visualization.
