The 1,400 handsets are being replaced with new software that will allow people to exchange e-mail of up to 5,000 characters, up from 2,000, company spokeswoman Michiko Mori said to the press.
The replacements will also have a USB cable outlet for linking to personal computers for data transmission, Mori said.
