The findings from Lennart Hardell, professor of oncology at the Orebro Medical Centre in Sweden, which are currently being further analyzed were announced at a City & Financial conference in London.
This study was drawn from a sample eight times larger than a previous study from the team, which had reached the same conclusion.
Prof Hardell compared the mobile phone use of 1617 patients diagnosed with brain tumours between 1997 and last June with a control group of healthy people.
The data did not however find any link in relation to digital mobile phones and cordless phones
But it is necessary with a longer observation time to rule out an increased risk for these telephone types, said Professor Hardell in a press statement.
This study however should be tempered with the fact that other studies have concluded with opposite results.
