Nokia wins contract with Thai operator

Nokia has won a $200 million contract with Thailand's Total Access Communication (TAC). Nokia, currently the only supplier for TAC's mobile core network, will deliver GSM, GPRS and EDGE mobile systems.

Nokia will provide its GSM, EDGE and WCDMA-supporting UltraSite base station solution. In addition, Nokia will provide its Smart Radio Concept Technology, which will enhance the DTAC network coverage and improves the quality of radio networks.

DTAC has over four million customers. It formed a strategic partnership will Norway’s Telenor in 2000.
