Apple has announced a MacBook Pro Repair Programme, which will include free repair of the malfunctioning systems, that include distorted video, no-video, or unexpected system restarts.
According to Apple, the affected MacBook Pro systems were sold between February 2011 and December 2013.
It includes 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models that were manufactured in 2011, and 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display manufactured from mid 2012 to early 2013.
The affected MacBook Pros reportedly showed distorted or scrambled video or no videos at all, despite the system being on. There are also complaints that at times the computers also restart unexpectedly.
In 2014, the company was sued by some MacBook Pro owners due to the same problem, and court documents showed that a technical glitch caused by a component called lead-free solder caused a short circuit in the system.
The lawsuit also demanded that Apple acknowledge the problem and repair the affected machines, which might have triggered the floating of the programme, reported MacRumors.
Apple also announced that owners of the affected system could opt between Carry-in or Mail-in option to get their systems repaired at the Apple Repair Center.
