The mobile arm of Bonn, Germany-based Deutsche Telekom AG said the cuts will take effect in Germany from mid-April before being introduced on T-Mobile’s other networks. They will apply to GPRS and future 3G networks.

The new pricing scheme is expected to see data charged at between 5 and 10 euros ($5.49 and $10.97) per MB, with lower prices available for contract subscribers. Contracts will cost from 4.95 euros ($5.43).

T-Mobile CEO Rene Obermann said he expects the lower prices to be offset by increased usage. The company wants data services to account for 20% of average revenue per user by 20%.

Separately, T-Mobile said it will begin to offer Research In Motion Ltd’s BlackBerry mobile device to what it called the prosumer market; professionals that require an always-on, push-enabled mobile email device without the burden of installing Waterloo, Canada-based RIM’s server software.
