The California-based company set up its first China Development Center (CDC) in the Shenzhen High Tech Industrial Park in June 2002. The new center is in Beijing’s Zhongguancun Software Park, bringing the company closer to Chinese technology firms based in the capital.

The new CDC will have four main laboratories: the Unbreakable Linux Development and Support Lab, the E-Business Suite China Special Edition Lab, the Digital City Lab, and the Wireless Solution Lab.

The Unbreakable Linux Development Lab will aid Oracle’s partnership with Chinese Linux distributor Red Flag Software Co Ltd, with which it is co-developing a special edition of the Linux operating system Red Flag Data Center OS 4.0, for Oracle customers in China. Oracle has been working with Red Flag since May 2003.

The E-Business Suite China Special Edition Lab will be dedicated to the development, testing and packaging of Oracle’s E-Business Suite China Special Edition, a local language version of its business application suite aimed at mid-market Chinese companies.

The Digital City Lab will focus on location-based services, geographic information systems and e-government solutions based on Oracle’s Database and Application Server products, while the Wireless Solution Lab will showcase Oracle’s latest mobile technology developments.
