VIRTUS announced today that TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) will expand its global IP backbone infrastructure to VIRTUS’s LONDON2 data centre.

Customers of the data centre specialist will now have access to a direct path between 200 points-of-presence across North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

TSIC’s backbone provides a global routing table which reduces the number of paths data has to travel between source and destination. It is already transited by one third of the internet.

Darren Watkins, Sales Director, VIRTUS Data Centres, commented: "LONDON2 is already an award-winning, world class facility with a broad range of connectivity options, but we are always striving to improve on its offering.

"We welcome TSIC to LONDON2, providing a high performance global reach option which will help strengthen our ecosystem and further benefit our customers across leading financial, enterprise, cloud and technology industries."

Tim Brady, Sales Director, Western Europe, TeliaSonera International Carrier, said: "London plays a vital role in developing the world’s big ideas. Delivering those ideas to the world over TSIC’s IP network, with the high performance guarantees you’d expect of the world’s second largest IP backbone, is exactly what we do. Adding the innovative LONDON2 facility to our global reach was a natural step in our on-going network expansion."
