The new carriage deal gives Emap TV access to nearly 600,000 new homes.
The deal coincides with the latest four-week Barb TV viewing figures, which show that the combined Emap TV channels are the number one music provider on existing Sky Digital platforms. They account for an average 52 per cent share of music television viewing on Sky Digital against Viacom’s 48 per cent.
Kiss TV, Q Television, Smash Hits and The BOX (which also appears on Telewest’s analogue service) will be available to Telewest subscribers by the end of the year. Kerrang! TV and the recently launched Magic will be available early 2002.
As well as increasing share, Emap TV viewers are now regularly tuning into Emap Performance channels for longer than ever before.
Dave King, broadcast sales director at Emap Advertising adds:
The last 12 months have seen tremendous activity. Emap TV has successfully launched five new channels and with the latest addition to the portfolio, Magic, we now have a 52 per cent share of music viewing in Sky Digital homes.
The addition of 600,000 new Telewest subscribing homes will not only further increase our audience share but most importantly increase our share in the hard to reach 16-34 adult audience for our customers.
Our partners at Sky Media sales will be taking this message to our customers from the beginning of December, making Emap TV an ever more formidable force.
