The service offers its users access to the high-speed 3G network. CDMA2000 1x allows for wireless broadband Internet access and customers can download data at rates of up to 144kbps. The network can support applications such as interactive gaming, video steaming and conferencing and downloading music. The uploading transfer rate is 64kbps.
Subscriber numbers have grown steadily since the 3G network’s launch on April 1. The company is hoping to increase network coverage to 90% by the end of the year. At present it covers 43 cities in Japan.
