As companies in the UK bolster their defences to protect their systems from cyber attack, the in-demand cyber security experts are charging as much as £10,000 a day to protect vulnerable networks.

Some lesser experienced IT security experts are even charging £3,000 a day as the demand for these experts are growing, according to report from recruitment firm Manpower.

There is a worldwide shortage of such experts in this field, some top dog security experts are charging five figure sum from companies.

According to Manpower, the number of employers looking to hire security experts has increased four times this year.

Manpower UK managing director Mark Cahill said: "There are millions of cyber-attacks every day with a total cost to the global economy of up to $575bn (£381bn) a year.

"Companies are having to invest heavily to protect themselves and they now believe that cyber breaches are inevitable, with their focus moving to responding to attacks rather than just prevention.

"Some individuals can command daily rates in excess of £3,000, and some top cybersecurity specialists can even earn five-figure sums daily. With the potential risk to companies so significant and no signs of demand falling, those sky-high salaries look set to continue."

The reasons for rise in pay packets is the increasing sophistication of attacks and with big companies are being targeted.

The small companies are fast realising that they are no longer immune from cyber attacks and could be targeted by attackers.
