A Raspberry Pi has been designed to cut off access to Instagram by blocking it over public Wi-Fi.
Steve Lord, a British security specialist has created the "hipster slayer" to block access to social media sites such as Instagram.
The gadget works by finding DNS lookups on open wireless networks. Once it has detected someone trying to access a social media site, special networking frames are sent to the device that instruct it to leave the network.
Lord is featuring this product and others at Kiwicon in New Zealand; it forms part of a set of gadgets he was created called the "Internet of Wrongs."
The modified Raspberry Pi Zero powers up from a battery and is designed to crush hipster vanity, said Lord.
The purpose of these gadgets is to shine a light on the cyber-war and highlights the risk of using open networks.
