Hortonworks has announced a partnership with Hitachi Data Systems to jointly support Hadoop, as it looks to expand its 100% open source Hadoop ecosystem.
The deal will see HDS provide the Hortonworks Data Platform, built and packaged by the core architects of Apache Hadoop, to its customers.
The Hortonworks Data Platform is designed to refine and explore data sources, and uncover new insights from big data sources, allowing enterprises to capture, process and share data in any format and at any scale.
"Our partnership with Hitachi Data Systems is another proof point of Hortonworks’ commitment to expanding and empowering the Apache Hadoop ecosystem, accelerating innovation and adoption of the market’s only 100-percent open source enterprise Hadoopm," John Kreisa, VP of strategic marketing at Hortonworks, said.
"The strategic agreement also provides a joint engineering commitment for the two companies on current and future projects that will help make Hadoop enterprise-ready."
Kevin Eggleston, SVP of HDS’ Social Innovation and Global Industries, added: "Building on our intent to acquire Pentaho, this strategic partnership with Hortonworks adds industry-leading, Hadoop-based solutions to our list of products focused on providing maximum insights through big data analytics."
