Two people from Essex, accused of being behind the reFUD.me malware creation site, have been arrested.
The reFUD site is alleged to sell a variety of malware creation tools, and has a scan service which allowed developers to make their packages fully undetectable.
Since February this the site says it has conduct 1.2m scans, and has been widely talked about on hacking sites.
One of the paid for tools was called Cryptex Reborn. It disguises malware by making modifications so that it can bypass detection engines. The NCA said it was on of the most sophisticated it had seen recently.
The man and the woman arrested are both aged 22.
The arrests came on the back of burgeoning partnerships between the public and private sector which has seen Trend Micro, Intel Security and the National Crime Agency working together since June.
"This ongoing investigation shows how the NCA is taking its work with industry to combat cyber-crime to the next level," said Steve Laval, from the NCA’s National Cyber Crime Unit.
Trend Micro and the NCA have previously worked together to try and tackle the powerful Dridex banking botnet.
