Based on MediaSpan’s Jazbox editorial software, the system will be deployed in Reuters bureaus worldwide and enable journalists to assemble and deliver multimedia news packages incorporating text, pictures, graphics and video in seven languages to the agency’s news media and financial market customers, as well as to websites such as reuters.com.

Increasingly our customers demand that Reuters gives them a complete 360-degree view of stories, which pulls together all of the different elements of our multimedia news coverage, said Thomas Defoe, head of product management for Reuters news production.

Jazbox is currently in use at three major North American newspaper chains, and in September MediaSpan announced an enterprise level deal with Sun Media, Canada’s largest chain of news tabloids. In addition, the Press Association, the UK’s national news agency, has been using Jazbox since 2002.

MediaSpan says that an increasing number of media owners are installing the system as a content hub for the production of newspapers, websites and other digital offerings.
