Semiconductor firm Connect One has teamed up with Broadcom to help manufacturers bring their products to the Internet of Things market more efficiently.
The deal will see Connect One integrate its iChip Internet Controller with Broadcom’s WICED Wi-Fi system-on-chip to create G2 Wi-Fi modules for the IoT.
Connect One said the G2 modules will help manufacturers connect, secure, and manage IoT products and services over the Internet in "just a couple of hours".
The line should also provide easier integration to applications in areas such as home automation, medical, security, industrial control, smart grids, asset management and point of sale.

The modules also include multiple hardware interfaces, firmware, and secure Internet protocols for Wi-Fi client mode and up to eight Wi-Fi users in router or access-point modes.
Connect One added that manufacturers will also gain immediate connectivity without any Wi-Fi driver development or porting, thereby minimising project development challenges and time-to-market.
