The new service, named Swift Text, was developed by Text2Insurance and works by using existing SMS text or WAP technology. In order to obtain a car insurance quote from Switfcover.com, customers will send a text message to the service and then reply to a short series of texts from the service asking for details about the owner and vehicle.
The Swift Text service will then send the prospective customer a quote, plus a quote ID and website link where the customer can access the quote and purchase the insurance policy. Customers can also make any necessary amendments or addition to the quote at the website, and save the quote to return to if they do not wish to make a purchase immediately.
The company claims that the process takes less than five minutes to complete, and that it is a natural successor to the insurer’s existing offerings, which are only available online.
