IBM said the new voice-over-IP (VoIP) system will use the university’s internet network to enable communication through digital transmissions. The company will also help Memorial to upgrade its IT services in order to improve the delivery of technology services and processes to the university’s staff and students.
The agreement also expands existing research collaboration between the two organizations in the areas of deep computing visualization and life sciences.
In addition, IBM is to implement a Cisco-based campus-wide IP telephony product to provide high-quality voice services and support rich-media applications.
