Under the terms of the agreement, Vivendi will retain Swordfish Studios’ staff of 45 at its Birmingham, England-based offices.

Swordfish Studios has recently completed development of first-person shooter Cold Winter and World Championship Rugby for Sony’s PlayStation 2 games console. Future products are expected to be announced at a later date.

The latest acquisition is the third for Vivendi, which bought Canada’s Radical Entertainment in March. Entertainment software developer Blizzard Entertainment, a subsidiary of Vivendi, also acquired game publisher Swingin’ Ape Studios earlier this year.
