The New South Wales Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) is adopting Sun’s StarOffice desktop productivity suite, Java System Messaging Server and Java System Calendar Express across 120 offices during the first phase of rollout.
Sun said yesterday the next phase of the project would connect up to 3,000 users, with future plans to use Sun’s Java System Portal Server, Access Manager, Identity Manager and Directory Server Enterprise Edition. According to Sun, the RTA expects to lower total cost of ownership by 20% producing a potential saving of up to $1.5 million.
