The value of the IBM deal wasn’t disclosed, but Delta said it would lead to 200 job cuts from its 1,800-person in-house IT department, according to an Associated Press report. The filing states that Delta currently operates its own computers for functions such as reservations, communications, and flight and maintenance management. The deal would send mainframe and midrange infrastructure support duties over to IBM.
Delta entered bankruptcy last September and hopes to emerge from it sometime next year.
