IT services firm Atos is looking to help organisations transition to software-defined infrastructures with its new Digital Data Center services.
The services include Digital Data Center design, planning and implementation services as well as Digital Data Center Managed services at customer or Atos secure data centres.
The services are built on a software-defined data centre architecture and commodity hardware that uses VMware’s vCloud Suite, NSX, Virtual SAN and vRealize technologies.
Unlike existing data centres, Atos says the software-defined Digital Data Center services are abstracted from the underlying physical infrastructure to enable programmatic and automated provisioning and management across an organisation’s entire infrastructure.
Atos added the services will be provided to customers worldwide, allowing organisations to migrate and transform their IT infrastructure quickly in a "non-disruptive way".
"The Digital Data Center services provide a step change in infrastructure and complement our Canopy solutions and services, positioning Atos as the leader in helping clients to evolve their IT infrastructure to leverage the best of breed software-defined and Cloud technologies," said Atos’s head of managed services Eric Grall.
The Digital Data Center services are also designed to provide increased security and lower running costs.
Todd Surdey, VMware’s VP of Global Strategic Alliances and Emerging Partners, said: "Through a software-defined data center architecture, organisations have the ability to realise greater scalability, flexibility and agility in their IT infrastructure."
The first Digital Data Center pilots are beginning in Q1 2015, with additional features to be added throughout the rest of the year.
