The Redwood Shores, California-based company has teamed up with a number of vendors to put together the software and hardware stacks through its Oracle Validated Configurations program.
As well as Linux distributors Red Hat Inc and Novell Inc, Oracle has also worked with partners including Dell, EMC, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Emulex, Qlogic, Advanced Micro Devices, and Intel.
According to Oracle, the resulting published configurations will reduce testing and recovery effort for end users while simplifying the deployment of Oracle’s database management system on Linux.
The Oracle Validated Configurations program has been launched with five configurations, with more to be added. All five are for the deployment of a single or Real Application Cluster instance of Oracle Database 10g on x86-64 processor servers.
Three configurations involve Red Hat Enterprise Linux: one on a Dell PowerEdge 6850 with Dell/EMC Clarion CX500, one on an HP ProLiant DL380 with HP StorageWorks MSA 1000, and one on a ProLiant DL585 with HP StorageWorks MSA 1000.
There are also two SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 configurations: one with Service Pack 2 on an IBM BladeCenter HS20 with IBM TotalStorage DS4500, and one with Service Pack 3 on an IBM eServer 326 with NetApp FAS900.
