IBM plans to include lsogon’s technology into its Tivoli-branded systems management software line and sell the software directly through its business partner channel.

Since last year IBM has resold a couple of lsogon products – SoftAudit for z/OS (for automated inventory and usage monitoring and Vista (for a contractual and legal document management tool) – alongside its Tivoli License Manager offering.

IBM and lsogon have around 200 joint customers.

New York-based lsogon is the latest partner that IBM has scooped up to support its ongoing on demand strategy. Lsogon will provide tracking tools that anticipate ebbs and peaks in software usage to allow enterprises to more accurately plan their licensing.

All 90 of lsogon’s employees are being absorbed into the Tivoli infrastructure management software business unit. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter this year.
