According to a report on the official Local e-gov website, local authorities, London Borough of Brent and London Connects, attended an official launch event at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to present the solution to partners and ICT managers.

The report quoted Patrick Clark, programme manager for the Local Directgov Programme, This is a robust solution that will simplify citizen access to all government services – both local and central. This unique technical solution will carry users straight from Directgov to the specific local authority service page they require. Whilst some other portals currently provide a similar type of service on a county-wide basis, but many of these rely on a search engine technique. The Local Directgov application is the only website which can link users to all 388 English local authorities in away that appears seamless, and using specific links agreed by local authorities, to increase accuracy.

The Programme proposes to continue to engage with all English local authorities from now until March 2006 to collect a further, fuller set of data and inputting it into esd-toolkit, in order to continue creating links between Directgov and local authority websites.
