St Paul, Minnesota-based CodeWeavers’s CrossOver Office is an implementation of the open source Wine Project that enables applications developed for Windows – such as Microsoft’s Office suite, Access, Project, and Visio applications, Adobe’s Photoshop and FrameMaker, IBM’s Lotus Notes, Intuit’s Quicken, and Apple’s iTunes – to run on Linux and Unix.

Office 2003 applications have been added to that list with the release of 5.0, which also includes a new virtualization technology called Bottles, which enables administrators to create custom packages to deploy and manage Windows applications, as well as Windows application installation improvements.

Two versions of CrossOver Office are available, with the Standard edition costing under $40, and the enterprise-focused Professional Edition costing under $70, and adding enhanced deployment features and multi-user support.
