Retail Decisions, a provider of card fraud prevention technology, UK payments processor Voca and mobile services firm Mi-Pay have combined their capabilities to set up the new company, called Digital Payments.
The companies said the new venture will allow retailers to manage consumer payments on digital sales channels including digital television, the internet and mobile phones. Consumers will be able to pay by Direct Debit across these channels in the same way they use a credit card.
Retail Decisions (ReD) said it will provide fraud prevention and payment processing, bank account validation and customer behavior profiling to the company. Voca will provide transaction processing, merchant billing and settlement while Mi-Pay will offer its merchant interface, consumer interface, message switching and digital channel applications.
In addition, it has been reported that ReD has partnered with IP routing firms Datawire Communication Networks and Sarian Systems to create a separate payments application, ReD1Link, which will aim to enable payment processing over existing broadband lines instead of multiple phone lines.
